Can We Bring Food and Drinks?
Absolutely. You're welcome to bring your own food and beverages onboard. If you want to bring hard liquor, just add the bartender when you build your charter, since a licensed bartender is required to serve it. We can also collect everything from Total Wine on the way in and charge you exactly what it rings up.
How Much Does a Charter Cost?
On BowTie, our 80ft, charters start at $900 an hour with a two-hour minimum, so $1,800 for the boat. Three to five hours drops to $850 an hour, six to seven to $800 and eight hours to $750. Holidays and holiday weekends are $1,000 an hour, and the six biggest days of the year are $1,200. Captain and crew, the port fee and any add-ons sit on top. The 100ft Westport is priced by headcount instead, from $2,040 an hour for up to 50 guests to $3,000 for a full 134, with a captain and two crew included. Each boat has its own pricing calculator that works out your exact total, line by line, before you speak to anyone.
How Many Guests Can We Bring?
That depends on the boat. BowTie, our 80ft, takes up to 13 guests, which is 12 plus the person booking. The 100ft Westport takes up to 134. Either way the charter is fully private, so the whole yacht is reserved for your group and never shared.
What Is the Minimum Charter Length?
We have a 2-hour minimum on both yachts. On BowTie a 2 hour charter runs down to the downtown skyline for the city views and then loops back, so it does not reach Glorietta Bay. Most guests find that 3 to 5 hours gives them the perfect amount of time to relax, explore, and enjoy.
Can We Customize the Experience?
Yes. From your route and playlist to catering, a DJ, a photographer, and more, we work with you to build the experience around your vision. Just let us know what you have in mind.
Where Do We Board?
H&M Landing, 2803 Emerson St, San Diego, CA 92106, out on Point Loma. Parking there is limited, so we’d suggest a rideshare, especially with a full group. Come twenty minutes before your start time. If you book dinner at Bali Hai we collect you from their dock instead and the port fee comes off your total.
What Should We Bring?
We handle cups, plates, utensils, napkins, coolers, filtered water, and towels. Bring your food, drinks, sunscreen, and sunglasses, plus whatever else makes your group comfortable. We take care of the rest.
How Do I Reserve My Date?
Build your charter on the pricing calculator and send it over. Nothing is charged at that point. We confirm your date, then half the charter plus the port fee holds it. The balance is due 14 days before you sail and the crew gratuity can wait until the day. Monthly payment plans and Affirm are both available.
What If I Need to Cancel?
How far ahead you let us know decides what you keep.
- 60 days or more: a full refund, or full credit toward another date if you’d rather keep it.
- 14 to 59 days: a full credit toward another date within the year. It’s yours to use or to give to someone else.
- 3 to 13 days: half the charter stays with you as a credit.
- Inside 48 hours, or a no-show: the full amount is lost. We can’t rebook a boat or a crew that late.
- Weather: the one exception, and it overrides all of this. If your captain calls it unsafe to sail you reschedule at no cost, and if we ever have to cancel and no new date works, we refund you in full.
What Happens If the Weather Is Bad?
San Diego has incredible weather year-round. In the rare event of unsafe conditions, we'll work with you to reschedule at no additional cost. Your experience and safety always come first.
Are the Captain and Crew Included?
On the 100ft Westport, yes: a captain and two crew come with the charter. On BowTie, no. Per bareboat charter regulations your booking reserves the boat itself, and the captain and crew are arranged and paid separately, due at least 14 days before you sail. The captain is a separate agreement. If you don’t already have one, we’ll recommend a captain who is already insured on our vessel. Budget around $160 an hour for a captain and two crew, and the calculator works it into your total.
What Upgrades Can We Add?
Pizza from Prince Street, a taco bar from Miguel’s, a sushi chef aboard, a private chef, dessert, a bartender, the alcohol run, a DJ, a live vocalist or saxophonist, a photographer, the 30ft water slide, floats and decoration setup. Every one of them is priced on the calculator, so you can see what each adds before you ask.
Do We Anchor During the Charter?
A 2-hour charter is a run down to the downtown skyline and back, with no time to anchor. A 3-hour charter is a full guided tour of the bay. Anchoring is available by request, but on a 3-hour we can only stop at nearby Kellogg Beach. To anchor at our usual spot, Glorietta Bay, we require 4 hours or more.
Can We Add the Water Slide?
The water slide is available on charters of 5 hours or longer. That gives us time for setup and takedown and leaves you plenty of time to enjoy it. Adding the slide also requires an additional crew member.
